I’m a web developer with full-stack experience and a particular interest in backend systems. I value simple architecture, readable code, and tools that are easy to work with.

Full-time: March 2022–present

Develop and maintain web applications and backend services supporting university operations. My work includes building APIs and integrations, modernizing existing applications, and developing interfaces for campus users and administrators. I also troubleshoot production issues and improve security, monitoring, and deployment workflows to keep these systems reliable and maintainable.
PeopleSoft Developer
Full-time: January 2017–March 2022 Part-time: April 2015–January 2017

Developed and maintained software supporting BYU's campus operations, with a focus on PeopleSoft Campus Solutions. Collaborated with other teams to build and consume APIs connecting systems across campus.

How I approach development

I enjoy creating something new and finding ways to make existing systems work more efficiently. Backend development appeals to me because it forms the backbone of an application—the work behind the scenes that makes everything else possible. I’m also comfortable working across the stack, particularly alongside a UI/UX designer.

I value code that helps the next developer get up to speed and contribute. During rewrite projects, I’ve spent time understanding legacy systems and finding clearer ways to express their behavior. My aim is to make the code easy to follow, including for developers who are still building their experience.

I value open conversation and a willingness to work through disagreements. Understanding someone else’s perspective—whether they’re a teammate or a person using the software—helps us find better solutions.

RecipeSafe began as a personal project to learn backend development through a simple interface, with my own family in mind. It provides a place to collect, organize, and share recipes.

Beyond work

Outside work, I enjoy tinkering with software projects and gradually building out a home lab. I also enjoy reading, from fantasy, science fiction, and historical fiction to nonfiction that gives me something new to learn.
